Health care facilities can conduct investigations when medical errors occur, leading to death, serious disability, injury or harm to the patient. The Quality of Care Information Protection Act (QCIPA) was implemented to guide the investigations of critical incidents so that causes can be understood and changes can be implemented to prevent similar incidents in the future. One of the objectives of QCIPA is to allow medical professionals to openly discuss cases in confidence. It also enables patients and family members to obtain information about the critical incident. This webinar will provide an overview and analysis of QCIPA.
