Shanil joined Bogoroch and Associates LLP as a summer student in May of 2018 and returned as an Articling Student in July 2019. He received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 2016 and graduated from Queen’s Law in June of 2019.
Shanil’s advocacy experience began with representing the interests of McGill’s philosophy majors as a student politician. Throughout law school, Shanil served an executive of the South Asian Law Students’ Association, the Queen’s Law Cancer Society, and the Queen’s Criminal Law Club. Shanil also wrote and edited for the school’s magazine: Juris Diction.
Shanil received the Torys LLP Public Interest Internship Award for advocating for human rights at the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation during his first summer in law school. The following year, he completed an internship with the under the National Defence and Canadian Forces Legal Advisor at the Department of Justice in Ottawa.
Shanil is currently a member of the South Asian Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society, and the Medico-Legal Society of Toronto.
