Bogoroch & Associates Makes $50,000 Gift to Osgoode Hall Law School for Entrance Award

Bogoroch & Associates Demonstrates Commitment to Legal Education

Bogoroch & Associates is pleased to announce the inception of its new entrance award for Osgoode Hall Law School. The following is reprinted from the York University Daily Bulletin.

Update: In the fall of 2009, Bogoroch & Associates has renewed its original entrance award, thereby increasing the total award to $100,000.

Generous gift will benefit future law students

Richard Bogoroch The Toronto law firm of Bogoroch & Associates has made a $50,000 gift to Osgoode Hall Law School at York University that will help open the world of legal education to a student with limited financial resources.

Beginning in the fall of 2004, the Bogoroch & Associates Renewable Entrance Award – one of Osgoode’s largest and most prestigious term awards – will provide one entering student with $8,325, which is renewable throughout the student’s three years of study.

Mr. Bogoroch recognizes that there are many brilliant and eager minds who would be tremendous additions to the legal profession and would greatly contribute but for financial constraints of tuition. It is his wish to give back, in appreciation of all that being a lawyer has meant to him.

As this award is a “Renewable” Entrance Scholarship Award, once it is expended, it is done. Mr. Bogoroch has endeavoured to provide another student with an opportunity to achieve and realize their aspirations of becoming a lawyer. He has donated an additional $50,000, in the fall of 2009. This will be provided to a student who is financially unable to attend law school. The first year, the selected student will receive $16,666 and, upon achieving an academic standing in the top 20% and remaining in financial need, will receive an additional $16,666 for the second and third year each, as well.

We are proud to be associated with a firm that shares our commitment to accessibility and excellence in legal education.”

Bogoroch & Associates is a Toronto law firm specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice litigation on behalf of plaintiffs. Founder Richard Bogoroch, who received his law degrees from McGill University in 1978 and 1979 (BCL, LLB), hopes the gift will benefit exceptional students who might not otherwise have a chance to go to law school.

“I am grateful for having had the privilege of a legal education, and hope that through our gift deserving students can enjoy the blessings and benefits of a legal career,” said Bogoroch.
